Frank Anderson
Work Life: After High School, Frank worked a variety of jobs, ranging from construction to house painting to irrigation, and even dog grooming. Wanting more exposure to the art community he found employment with Harvey and Marie Giles at Marie's Arteries in Missoula, MT. Frank began working at Marie's in 1990 and really enjoyed the work and learned a great deal. In 2006, however, circumstances led him to Southern California. There, he went to work for Amir Kojoory, a well known photographer. Frank enjoyed working for Amir Photography and Custom Framing, but couldn't adapt to big city life, so he moved back to Montana. Upon his return to Missoula, he went back to work at Marie's briefly before they closed up shop in 2007, and he then went to work at Art Attic Framing & Design, where he has been working ever since. "Custom Framing combines all aspects of my talents into one perfect fit".
Art Life: Being born and raised in Eastern Montana, it seemed only natural that I was influenced by the work of Charlie Russell and the photographer L.A. Huffman, who seemed to be so ubiquitous at the time. I was encouraged at a young age by my mother and my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Johnson, to draw and paint. Most of my life I only dabbled in it, becoming serious about the arts only later in life. It is something in my soul that needs to be expressed, if only in a small way, and hopefully others might appreciate my love of the landscape. My landscapes are painted exclusively in oil on canvas because I enjoy the application, fluidity, and luminosity that the medium presents. I work mainly from photographs while in my studio, but do enjoy plein air painting as well.
